No to new military takeovers
Turkish General Staff made a statement in 27th April 2007.
It’s a note in the strict sense of the word.
Turkish General Staff is in the centre of Turkish political
life. The statement they made is apparently about the debates
and disagreement concerning presidency elections. But their
threats aren’t targeting only Islamic fundamentalism in the
country.
The main goal is to discard perfunctuory progressing democracy
and change process and to prevent membership to EU.
It is said that ‘everybody who objects Atatürk’s (founder
of Turkey) manner of nationalism is our enemy and will remain
as an enemy.’ This attitude targets Kurds, the other ethnic
groups and religious minorities who defend their democratical
rights and are willing to perform their religious duties freely.
On the other hand it is aimed to make pressure on the Constitutional
Court which will come to a decision regarding the oppositon
party’s application in order to annul the election.
For this reason labourers first who are economically effected
by the military takeovers all the social powers which demand
democracy and change must oppose to Turkish army’s note.
Kurds suffered much from Turkish state’s nationalist policies.
All the patriotic and democratic powers of Kurds must unite.
Apparent target of the note is the AKP government. They must
spread the religious and conscientous freedom to all beliefs
not to themselves only, restart Eu process and provide new
opportunities for a permanent change.
USA and EU member countries, international peace an human
rights organizations must raise objection against the military
note.
That’s the only way to prevent new notes and armies effect
on political life.
We, Kurdistan Democratic Party-North (PDK), Socialist Party
of Kurdistan (PSK) and Patriotic Democrats’ Party (PWD-K),
are calling all the peaceful and democratic organizations
and parties to unite their powers. That’s the way to force
AKP government to produce solutions about Kurdish problem
and recognize Kurdish democratic demands.
PDK (North), PSK and PWD-K demand USA, EU member countries
and international institutions to object Turkish Army’s threats
and act in solidarity with Kurdish freedom movement.
